Have a compatibility conversation
Screening reports do not explain daily living habits. Discuss schedules, guests, cleanliness, noise, smoking, pets, shared supplies, privacy, and how each person handles conflict.
Respect housing requirements
Federal, state, and local rules may affect advertising, questions, screening, decisions, notices, and recordkeeping. Rules can differ for owner-occupied homes, but exceptions are specific and should not be assumed.
